Cached torrents: why some are instant

If anyone has fetched a torrent before, its files are already in our cache and your links are ready in a second.

Our servers keep one shared copy of every torrent they have fetched: the cache. A torrent is identified by its hash, so the same torrent added by many people is fetched only once.

In the cache: instant

Add a torrent that's in the cache and it's Ready at once: no download, no waiting.

Not cached yet: as fast as its peers allow

A torrent nobody has fetched yet is downloaded by our servers on a 10 Gbit/s network. How long it takes depends on the torrent: how many peers share it and how fast they are. Well-seeded torrents usually come in quickly; rare ones can take hours. You don't need to keep the page open.

Can I check before adding?

There's no separate check: add it, and if it's cached it's ready right away. Without a pass, each addition counts toward your 1 torrent every 24 hours.

How long files stay cached

As long as there's room. When space runs low, the torrents nobody has used for the longest time leave first, and torrents pass holders used recently are protected. See A torrent left the cache.
