VLC, Infuse, Kodi and smart TVs

Open a direct link in your player: it streams with seeking, in any format the player supports.

A player streams a direct link like a file on disk: it starts in seconds and you can seek anywhere. Use one for everything your browser can't play, such as HEVC or 10-bit video, DTS or AC-3 sound, and subtitles inside an MKV.

VLC

  • On a phone or tablet with VLC installed, Open in VLC hands the link to the app.
  • On a computer, copy the link, then in VLC choose Media › Open Network Stream (File › Open Network on a Mac) and paste it.
  • For a torrent with several videos, open its Playlist .m3u in VLC: they play one after the other, in order.

Infuse

Choose Add Files › Via Direct URL and paste the link.

Kodi

Save the torrent's Playlist .m3u to a folder Kodi can read, then open it from Videos › Files. A .strm file holding a single link works too.

Smart TVs and TV boxes

Use a player app that can open a network link, such as VLC or Kodi. To avoid typing a long link with the remote, paste it from your phone: the Apple TV Remote and Google TV apps let you type with your phone's keyboard.

Playlists hold links, so they stop working when the links expire (7 days with a pass): export a fresh one when you need it. There's no add-on and no public API.
